COVID-19 COMBATING MEASURES:  on 26 May 2020, a Provisional Measure was published opening an extraordinary credit of approximately BRL 29 billion in favour of the Ministries of Health and Citizenship to be destined to the  Executive Power Management and Maintenance Programme as well as to the Emergency Aid of Social Protection to People in Vulnerability Situations, due to the Pandemic. Provisional Measure No. 970 of 25 May 2020.

THE INTERNAL REGULATION OF THE BRAZILIAN COMMITTEE FOR THE MANAGEMENT OF THE NATIONAL NETWORK FOR THE SIMPLIFICATION OF REGISTRATION AND LEGALISATION OF COMPANIES AND BUSINESSES (CGSIM) WAS  APPROVED: On 26 May 2020, a Resolution was published approving the Internal Regulations of the Brazilian Committee for the Simplification of Registration and Legalisation of Companies and Businesses – CGSIM. The purpose of the Committee is to manage the Brazilian National Network for the Simplification of Registration and Legalisation of Companies and Businesses and to regulate the registration and legalization of entrepreneurs and legal entities. Resolution No. 56 of 21 May 2020.

CREATION OF EMERGENCY RULES FOR JUDICIAL RECOVERY: the House of Representatives approved on 21 May 2020 a Bill that suspends acts such as decrees of bankruptcy, eviction for non-payment, collection of late payment fines and non-payment of taxes, for a period of 30 days. After this period, the insolvent debtor that proves a reduction of at least 30% in its revenues – due to the Pandemic – may file a request for preventive negotiation in court. If such request is accepted by the Judge, the suspension of charges will be extended for another 90 days. The matter goes to the Senate. Bill No. 1.397/2020.

COMPENSATION DUE TO THE PANDEMIC: the House of Representatives approved on 21 May 2020 a Bill that foresees financial compensation in the amount of BRL 50 thousand to be paid by the Federal Government to health professionals and workers. This indemnification will apply to cases in which such professionals have been permanently incapacitated to work, after contamination by Covid-19. In case of death, the compensation will be directed to the dependents. The matter goes to the Senate. Bill No. 1.826/2020.
