On November 14th, the National Immigration Counsel – CNIG approved provisions to ease the granting of visas to foreigners whose stay in Brazil is only for work preparation, organization and administration of the FIFA Confederations Cup 2013, FIFA World Cup 2014 and the Olympic and Paralympic Games of Rio 2016.

In agreement with the President of the CNIG, Mr Paulo Sérgio de Almeida, the new rules aim to simplify the process by eliminating the need to provide certain documents initially required for the granting of visas. Indeed, the only requirement that remains is for a fixed period during which organizations provide the link between the visa holder and the events. The purpose of this new measure adopted by the CNIG is to allow an easier coming of these professionals and ensure the execution of their mission.

The regulation, approved on November 14th, will enter into force after its publication in the Official Journal of the European Union – (DOU).
